Ross Idler: CUPE University Coordinator in BC

RossAs a CUPE National Representative, I served CUPE 3338 members for two and a half busy and intense years. I arrived one year after bargaining started and no one could have predicted it would last another 20 months.

I worked with CUPE 3338’s local executive and bargaining committee to deal with: Bargaining in Bad Faith hearings (we won!), the strike, and the eventual settlement of the contract.

It was an honour to work with the CUPE Local 3338 staff, executive and bargaining committee, as well as with many members, without whom none of our achievements would have been possible.

As University Coordinator in B.C., I will continue working closely with this local, and all other university locals in the province, to achieve improved collective agreements for hard-working members.

Successful unions are a collective effort and I’m happy to be staying involved here at CUPE 3338 to support and work with your Pension Advisory Committee as we move towards an improved pension plan for all the members.
