Dear Members,
As stated in yesterday’s bulletin an overtime ban will begin just past noon, at 12.01p.m. Thursday, October 4th.
Concurrent with that CUPE Local 3338 will be removing services from, and picketing, the Maggie Benson Centre and the WAC Bennett Library Building until 3:00 p.m.
All members working in those buildings will be required to leave their work site at one minute past noon and proceed outside their building to Convocation Mall.
Once there we will form a SILENT PROTEST picket line at the edge of the Mall along the two buildings.
Pairs of picketers will be assigned to other entrances in each building.
We will not engage in debate with those attending convocation. The idea is to be respectful of the Students, Guests and Staff, to be silent and let our picket signs speak for us.
This silent picture will be the thousand words we need to send to President Petter and SFU.
This is a legal strike.
No member still working should send any electronic communication (email) or make phone calls to the struck buildings during the hours they are behind picket lines. Noon to 3pm Thursday.
In Solidarity,
Lynne Fowler, President CUPE 3338
